Some ATM owners turn to outsourcing to whittle responsibilities
On its face, an ATM machine may seem like an easy source of supplementary revenue, in addition to whatever sales a business owner may make. If placed in a high-traffic area, a machine can be quite profitable, but they should not just be set and forgotten about – they require constant upkeep. Fortunately, owners can outsource services related to repairs, cash delivery, security and surveillance, and many other responsibilities.
As this blog discussed last week, the challenges facing the ATM industry are numerous. Owners who operate multiple Hantle or Hyosung ATM machines may feel overwhelmed by the burdens they currently face, so some are outsourcing certain aspects of their business to try to remain as profitable as possible.
A certified reseller of Triton ATM machines may be willing to take on some of the burden of ATM management. In addition to providing hardware to merchants buying an ATM machine, this service will guarantee machines are working properly through customer service over the telephone and on-site repairs when necessary.
"All of a sudden, the industry is on its ear, and we have these legacy systems and old-school ways of doing business that haven't changed in 20 years," Lonnie Scarborough, a Louisiana credit union vice president, told ATM Marketplace. "So in comes outsourcing as a way of doing a couple of things differently as well as reducing expenses. This approach gives [financial institutions and ATM owners] a faster path toward new functionality, increasing fee income or reducing their operating expense."
ATM owners who have multiple machines or other responsibilities for additional business ventures may not have the time or wherewithal to respond adequately to new industry challenges. Ultimately, owners must determine whether the risks of not meeting all challenges outweigh the costs of seeking help.
